The Power of Less

Christine talked about this book way back at the end of May. I finally ordered it, and the German post system being what it is, it was promptly delivered exactly when they said it would be - 2 days later. Small country and all...

I started reading it last night but only made it halfway through the first chapter before I fell asleep. This morning when I woke up, I decided to downsize something that takes a lot of my time - reading blogs.

I looked at my Google Reader and saw that I was subscribed to 89 blogs. Oy and vey. Granted, some of them haven't posted in over a year but trust me, I had a few on there that more than made up for it. (I'm talking to you, Perez Hilton!) I decided that I would try to cut the number in half.

So I started going through them. Do I read them because I gain something from them? Do they teach me something? Make me laugh? Make me think? What do they do for me??

Some I kept because they are my own blogs. (I like to see how the posts look in a reader. Dork, I know.)

Some I kept because they teach me something.

Some I kept because I like food porn.

Some, I kept because I am totally jealous and like to daydream that I live there, in that time period.

Some I kept because they make me laugh.

Well, you get the point.

So after I was done, I ended up with 24. If all I get from this book is the time not reading the rest of the blogs saves me, then I say I got my moneys worth!

wow, that's quite the clean up!!! Must feel good. How long will it take to add more new ones? I never feel like I can reach the end of the Internet or read all the available blogs.

Of course I had to keep you, Christine! I need to live vicariously through you and it is much easier to read the blog than to constantly ask you questions at SF. :D

I found "June" way back when her blog was Bye Bye, Buy because she was doing The Compact. She is too funny not to read!

I added one new blog last night - one that I *thought* I had subscribed to but because there were so many, I never realized that I wasn't reading it daily! (http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/)

Other than that, I am not going to add too many more. I think I will cap it at 30, and then have the 1 in, 1 out rule.

so true about never reaching the end. That's ok, though. I need to stop reading about other peoples lives and live mine. lol

I appreciate you keeping me, too! And I like that person who said I was hysterical. Also, now I kind of want nuts. In a nutshell.
